About the Speaker

Steve Burris has been involved in the petroleum industry since the 1980s. After receiving training from Exxon, Steve became a branded petroleum wholesaler, buying petroleum products and repackaging them into smaller containers for distribution. In 1998, Steve sold that business and entered the petroleum tank cleaning industry, where he gained firsthand knowledge of the challenges associated with fuel storage and fuel quality. He became a pioneer in the development of procedures, specifications, and scopes of work for petroleum tank cleaning and maintenance. Throughout his career, Steve has been a frequent speaker at industry conferences and trade associations, including data center and hospital engineering organizations. He has also authored numerous articles on fuel quality management and best practices for maintaining stored fuel. Steve holds several patents related to petroleum equipment, including the patented TopFLO Floating Suction Line. As Steve likes to say, "I didn't invent floating suction - I simply perfected it for use in generators and commercial fuel storage tanks." Today, Steve continues to focus on improving fuel reliability and fuel quality for mission-critical facilities through the commercialization of TopFLO technology.
