Lead Entomologist, the IR-4 Project @ North Carolina State University
Philip is an eStudy Administrator for the USDA-NIFA funded, IR-4 Project, whose mission is to support specialty crop growers with pest control solutions, through field and greenhouse product performance and magnitude of the residue studies, which are submitted to EPA to support new pesticide food tolerances.
Starting in 2022, Philip led the IR-4 Project through a field data collection overhaul, replacing paper raw data notebooks with electronic Field Data Books or eFDBs. This change has helped standardize data collection, reduced pesticide application calculation errors, minimized raw data handling and retention costs, and provided real-time oversight of study outcomes.
Philip will share the lessons learned from implementation of the eStudy platform across approximately 40 different public research universities and private research companies in the US and Canada.
